Crochet puff flower has been recently on trend in Hong Kong craft market when you can see it being made into accessories a lot! So I’ve made a puff flower dog collar for my dog, Hachi. It made her look extra lovely!
I’ve also decided to make a tutorial on it. You can easily turn these crochet puff flowers into accessories, blankets, decorations etc.. You will only need to know very basic crochet techniques to make it.
This tutorial is for making crochet SMALL PUFF FLOWER which is only 1.5cm in size. It’s made with tougher lace yarn because it’s easier to create the puffiness of petals.
You can make bigger puff flowers using the same pattern with thicker yarn like light or medium weight yarn. These yarns are softer and more stretchy. You’ll need more practice to make sure each stitch has the same tightness so that your petals look even and puffing up in a beautiful way.

Step-by-Step Tutorial
- Magic Circle. Slightly pulls the tail of magic circle to make it smaller.
- ［Chain 1, Puff stitch（4 Half double crochet together）, Chain1, Slip stitch in magic circle］x5
- Pull tail to close magic circle. Fasten off and weave in.
